The Role
We are currently recruiting a Vice President or Senior Associate to work hand-in-hand with one of M33’s Managing Directors to scale a young but high-potential practice in Defense Technology and Government Services. This person will be responsible for using primary and secondary research to build theses and then use these theses to develop a pipeline of high-potential investment prospects by building relationships with the founders and entrepreneurs who are building the next generation of game-changing businesses in the space. This person will also play a key role in deal diligence and execution. They will work independently, but closely with the Managing Director, and will have access to a group of highly accomplished government and defense advisors to aid their efforts at every stage.
As the first full-time hire in our Defense Technology and Government Services practice, strong performance in the role can lead to quick advancement and expansion of responsibilities.

Key responsibilities
    • Leading initial meetings and building relationships with founders and CEOs of prospective high-growth defense technology and government services businesses
    • Generating deal flow, and developing theses, market overviews, and thematic “deep dives” to help drive sourcing efforts
    • Participating in weekly sourcing team and investment committee meetings; this includes articulating investment theses and outlining attractive opportunities to the broader team and Managing Directors
    • Advancing deal processes from initial meeting through letter-of-intent
    • Partnering with a Managing Director and Advisors in all aspects of deal diligence, including financial and operational analysis, investment model and returns, market / competitive research, and organizational review
    • Project management of third-party diligence vendors and transaction closing process
    • Assisting with negotiations of letters-of-intent and definitive documentation
    • Collaborating with portfolio companies to support growth initiatives
Profile
    • 3+ years of work experience in defense, government, or an adjacent market that includes some combination of investing, investment banking, management consulting (with case work related to PE), or corporate development roles
    • Understanding of how the government and related entities buy, and the business model of government vendors
    • Strong project management skills
    • Impeccable work ethic and integrity
    • Fluent in finance, accounting, Excel
