Job Summary:
The Ventures Investment Principal will be responsible for all aspects of venture investments within an identified portfolis, including sourcing investment opportunities, performing due-diligence, recommending new investments and participating in company building and investment monitoring at the Board of Directors level. Performs either directly or through subordinate staff, research and tracks company competition and key industry events. Works with marketing and public relations, ensuring that a consistent corporate image is presented to analysts, institutional investors and individual shareholders. Coordinates key investor events and analyst conferences, as well as pertinent follow-up. Assists with the annual report and annual shareholders meeting. Prepares market and competitive updates for executive staff. Coordinates SEC filings and disclosures with SEC Reporting Manager to ensure timely submission and public notification/website postings. May prepare investor presentations.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Work with the Vice President of KP Ventures to help develop goals and priorities for the investment team.
  • Source new investments by continuously developing KPVs network of founders, entrepreneurs, and thought leaders.
  • Manage deal flow with fellow investor colleagues.
  • Lead all aspects of due diligence, work with colleagues as thought partners, and manage workstreams with junior investors.
  • Oversee and evaluate financial analyses and generate investment and portfolio recommendations.
  • Prepare and present investment memoranda to Investment Committee.
  • Lead execution of investment transactions including the review and negotiation of term sheets and transaction documents.
  • Monitor and manage portfolio investments through board participation.
  • Assist portfolio companies with targeted value-add efforts, including working with KP leaders where there is interest from and benefit for KP.
  • Develop thought partnership with key KP clinical, operational, and IT leaders to gain insights into areas of need and to perform due diligence.
  • Develop and oversee investment theses, leveraging KP and external expertise, to proactively source deal flow and generate strategic insights.
  • Develop and present insights from investment work to KPV investment committee, KP executives and KPV Limited Partners.
  • Recruit, train, manage, and grow junior investors.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of related experience with a Bachelors degree; OR
  • Minimum of eight (8) years and a Masters degree; OR
  • Minimum of six (6) years related experience with a PhD, or equivalent experience Required.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of healthcare venture or private equity investment experience required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of board of directors experience required.
Education
  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Investments, or related field.
License, Certification, Registration
  • N/A
Additional Requirements:
  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with executive/senior level professionals and all levels of management.
  • Strong existing network in the US healthcare entrepreneur and investor community.
  • Ability to analyze investment opportunities and make private company investment recommendations.
  • Excellent written/verbal presentation and listening skills, and the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to build strong business relationships and partnerships.
  • Demonstrated thought leadership, curiosity, and passion for healthcare innovation.
  • Collaborative team-first mindset.
  • Natural leader with a passion for recruiting, training, managing, and growing junior investors.
  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Direct investment experience in health care services or health information technology companies is preferred.
  • Experience serving on boards of privately-held companies; strong executive presence. Able to build trust and rapport quickly with founders, coinvestors, and other partners.
  • Prior experience sourcing, analyzing, and executing venture-backed investments.
  • MBA in finance and accounting, Investments, investor relations, or related field.
