    Aquiline Capital Partners Overview

Aquiline Capital Partners is a New York-based private equity firm which provides capital to innovative leaders in financial services and technology.

The firm looks for entrepreneurs who have commercialized their expertise, teams who have cracked complex end markets, and companies that have a strong relationship with their clients.

Aquiline Capital Partners has three distinct investment divisions:

    1. Aquiline Financial Services – The private equity team examines industry trends and then invests in interesting niches.
    2. Aquiline Technology Growth – The venture team looks for ineffective processes experienced by financial institutions to gain insights and potential opportunities for fintech, insuretech, and enterprise tech.
    3. Aquiline Credit Opportunities – The credit opportunities team seeks to invest in industries that the firm is already familiar with such as financial services and technology, asset-based finance, and healthcare services.

Jeff Greenberg founded Aquiline Capital Partners in 2005 and is also the chairman and CEO at the firm.

Jeff started Aquiline after years being an executive leader in the insurance sector. Before founding the firm, he was the Chairman and CEO at Marsh & McLennan.

Aquiline Capital Partners Interview Process & Questions

Firms can always modify their interview process with each candidate. However, there are some consistencies in the nature of the interview process at Aquiline Capital Partners and similar firms such as the following:

    • The interview process consists of 4-6 rounds
    • Junior investment professionals or the HR team will handle the initial part of the interview, while the more senior staff lead the later rounds
    • It could take multiple weeks before firms select the right candidate (unless it is “on-cycle” or “on-campus” recruiting)

Interviews at Aquiline Capital Partners will be a combination of fit questions, behavioral questions, and technical / investing questions.

If you need help to ace such interviews, check out my Growth Equity Interview Guide.

    Why Aquiline Capital Partners

One of the most common and important interview questions is “Why this firm?” Interviewers like to know if you have specific and well-researched reasons why you decided to apply at their firm.

If you have met former or current employees at the firm, this is your chance to mention them and how they’ve made a really positive impression on you.

Also, it’s a good idea to learn more about the firm to avoid providing a generic answer. One thing you can do is to listen to interviews with its founders, investors, and executives.
