Audax Group is one of the leading alternative investment managers. The firm was founded in 1999 and has offices in London, San Francisco, New York, and Boston.
What sets Audax Group apart is its dedication to supporting middle market companies in particular. They operate through three distinct business lines:
- Audax Private Equity
- Audax Private Debt
- Audax Strategic Capital
Audax Group tends to invest in the US middle market which is the world’s 3rd largest economy in terms of Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
The firm has over 1,000 investors and has done transactions in more than 30 countries.
Geoffrey Rehnert and Marc Wolpow are the Co-Founders and Co-Chief Executive Officers of the firm. Mr. Rehnert is also the Executive Chairman of Audax Private Equity, while Mr. Wolpow is the Executive Chairman of Audax Private Debt. They both manage and oversee the firm since its founding.

Audax Group Interview Process & Questions
Despite the changes in the interview changes for each candidate, the general nature of the process stays the same for the most part. In fact, you can anticipate the following:
- Interview rounds: 4-6
- Initial interviews are supervised by junior professionals, while later rounds are handled by more senior folks
- Unless it’s on-campus or on-cycle recruiting, expect that the entire process will last for multiple weeks

As per Crunchbase, Audax Group has made 29 investments and manages 7 funds. Some of their notable deals include Data Intensity, Senneca, and Magnitude Software.
Notable Transaction: A&A Manufacturing
A&A Manufacturing is a company based in New Berlin, Wisconsin that manufactures engineered safety and protective equipment for industrial groups. The company has operations in Germany and North America.
In August 2014, Audax Group, which had a majority stake in the manufacturer in 2007, sold A&A Manufacturing to 3i.
The deal was valued at $202.5 million and 3i has invested about $110 million, plus debt, as per Ken Hanau, 3i Managing Partner.
Before the transaction, A&A acquired Halltech and MFG Technik, two German companies. The company also plans to have more add-on acquisitions in Asia, North America, and Europe.
