    Frontier Growth Overview

Frontier Growth (formerly Frontier Capital) is a growth equity firm based in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The firm seeks to support the growth of software companies in the lower middle market through investment capital and operational expertise.

They make majority or minority investments through buyouts and growth equity. The firm also prefers to invest in enterprise healthcare, SaaS, commercial services, and marketing technology sectors in the US.

Frontier Growth’s support goes beyond capital investment. They also help portfolio companies with:

    1. Growing customers
    2. Building teams
    3. Combining investment with expertise
    4. Making acquisitions

One of the key differentiators of Frontier Group is their philosophy that puts “People Before Numbers”, because they believe that it’s people that lead to growth.

Andrew Lindner started Frontier in 1999 to serve high-growth B2B software businesses – which were largely ignored sector back then.

Frontier Growth Interview Process & Questions

Firms can make changes in their interview process with each candidate. However, the general nature of the process remains consistent at Frontier Growth and similar firms.

    • Interview process consists of 4 to 6 rounds
    • Junior investment professionals or the HR team handle the initial interviews, while more senior staff lead the later rounds
    • The entire process typically concludes after multiple weeks – unless it’s “on-cycle” or “on-campus” recruiting

You’ll face a combination of fit questions, behavioral questions, and technical / investing questions during your interview at Frontier Growth.

To help you prepare for such an interview, check out my Growth Equity Interview Guide.

Interviewers are most likely going to ask you “Why this firm?”

It’s also a good practice to learn more about the firm when coming up with an answer for “Why this firm”. One way to do this is to listen to interviews with its founders, investors, and employees.

    Frontier Growth Case Study

Interviewees almost always need to conduct case studies during interviews. Firms use case studies to evaluate the candidate’s technical knowledge and communication skills.

Most case studies at firms like Frontier Growth will require you to do financial modeling and investment recommendations. For junior roles, cold calling case study may also be included as well.
