The firm primarily invests in companies who have a diverse and underrepresented leadership (including LGBTQIA+) and also promotes progressive social values.

The firm started as a small group of angel investors consisting of LGBTQIA+ investors who also support companies established by those in the same community.
Outside of the United States, Gaingels also has offices in London, Toronto, and Australia.

- More or less 4 to 6 rounds of interviews
- For initial rounds, the HR team or junior investment professionals take the lead, while more senior staff take charge of the later rounds
- Expect the whole interview process to take several weeks, unless it’s “on-campus” or “on-cycle” recruiting
You can also expect a combination of technical / investing questions, behavioral questions, and fit questions when you interview at Gaingels.

Why Gaingels
“Why this firm” is one of the most commonly asked questions during interviews, and also a crucial question you need to properly answer.
If you’ve made connections during your networking efforts prior to interviews, this is the perfect chance to mention them and explain how the stories and experiences at the firm motivated you to apply.
Another thing you can do is to learn more about the firm. For this, I’d suggest listening to interviews with its founders, partners, management team, and key personnels.
This way, you’ll better understand how they operate and come up with an impressive answer.
For example, here’s an interview with Jennifer Jeronimo, CEO of Gaingels:

Typically, case studies revolve around investment recommendations and financial modeling, But junior roles are often asked to do a cold calling case study too.
To help aspiring investors like you, I’ve tackled case studies inside my Growth Equity Interview Guide course.
