The Role

In this role you will have a wide range of responsibilities supporting the Venture vertical. You will have the opportunity to play a pivotal role in driving continuous improvement in our operating platform by ensuring that it’s value-driven and tailored to the evolving needs of our portfolio. To achieve this you will need to work cross functionally to deliver objective analysis, design new systems and processes, help identify new ways to support our portfolio, and drive critical initiatives to ensure we are providing the best support to our portfolio companies.

To join our team, you should be excited to:

  • Partner with stakeholders to identify and define key performance indicators (including OKRs) for operating teams supporting our Venture stage portfolio.
  • Bridge objective analysis and qualitative feedback to deliver insight and recommendations on how to improve the support our operating team provides to our portfolio.
  • Design and implement internal systems and processes to help scale first class support to our portfolio companies.
  • Independently gather requirements & feedback from senior level stakeholders to form recommendations for new programs and solutions.
  • Own execution of critical initiatives, including annual planning and budgeting in partnership with teams across a16z.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Approximately 5+ years of experience working in an operational role for a high growth startup or proven experience in a strategy consulting, strategic planning or finance role.
  • Metrics-driven. Know how to analyze and synthesize data and draw reasonable conclusions.
  • Curious about developing systems to help automate reporting/analytics and put more data directly in the hands of business users.
  • Bias to action. Takes initiative and remains communicative, adaptable, and reliable.
  • Ability to quickly build trust and connect with other team members and cross-functional partners
  • Leverages subject matter experts. Consults internal experts for review and validation before publishing work.
  • High integrity, stellar judgment, and discretion to handle and manage highly sensitive, confidential and non-public information.
  • Company-first. Deep respect and humility for the company’s brand. Wants to adapt to make the brand shine versus using the brand to make oneself shine.
  • Familiar with Salesforce and/or Looker.

The anticipated salary range for this role is between $222,000-$259,000, actual starting pay may vary based on a range of factors which can include experience, skills, and scope.

This role is eligible to participate in the a16z Carry program and various discretionary bonus programs as well as benefit and perquisite plans including health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, 401K plan, vacation, and sick leave.
