The Role

The Apollo Direct Lending investment team is responsible for sourcing, underwriting, and managing private corporate credit investments across a variety of industries, representing more than $55 billion of AUM today. Direct Lending is one of the fastest growing segments within alternative asset management and strategic priority for Apollo. This role will be a member of the core Direct Lending investment team focused on monitoring individual private corporate investments, aggregating issuer-level insights at the portfolio-level and developing insights and analysis across Apollo’s Direct Lending portfolio.

This individual will be tasked with developing a deep understanding of the factors driving fundamental performance of specific credits, working alongside underwriting teams to monitor individual issuers within Apollo’s non-investment grade corporate private loan portfolio. The ideal candidate will have a passion for corporate financial analysis across industries.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and own credit monitoring processes for the Direct Lending business with an eye toward consistency and scalability.
  • Work alongside underwriting deal teams to develop expertise with respect to individual issuers in the Apollo portfolio. Act as a resource to senior business leaders regarding recent developments at the issuer-level.
  • Own credit statistics for individual borrowers and in the aggregate at the portfolio level; build and maintain performance and risk assessment analyses focused on revenue/earnings growth, covenants, liquidity, coverage ratios.
  • Lead the quarterly portfolio review process for the direct lending business; monitor and propose updates to risk ratings alongside deal teams and senior leaders.
  • Play a leadership role related to issuer-level data initiatives across the Direct Lending business with an emphasis on technology
  • Develop and deliver regular internal and external reporting and analysis on direct lending / private credit portfolio company trends for internal and external consumption.
  • Spearhead ad hoc portfolio analysis as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree with a record of academic achievement in a related field such as finance, economics, math, or data analysis preferred.
  • 6-7 years of relevant experience in a related field or position; [strong preference for sell-side equity or credit research analysts or candidates in a similarly situated buy-side role].
  • Exceptional understanding of financial statement analysis and financial modeling; broad-based analytical skillset.
  • Consummate team player with a strong desire to help optimize and grow Apollo’s expanding Direct Lending business.
  • Highly adaptable, with flexibility on depth and breadth of role and responsibilities.
  • Desire to take initiative and ownership – strong sense of accountability, responsiveness and follow-through.
  • Self-starter with a willingness to execute projects on a small, nimble team.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and responsibilities.
  • Excels in a rigorous and face-paced work environment.

Pay Range

$200,000-300,000

The base salary range for this position is listed above. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on personal, team, and Firm performance. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, level, and geographic location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed here.
