Associate General Counsel, Private Equity

The Associate General Counsel for Private Equity at StepStone Group will play a key role in supporting the firm’s private equity business. This position involves drafting and negotiating legal documents for various investment transactions and managing the legal aspects of private equity funds. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in private markets and a strong commitment to teamwork and integrity.

What You’ll Do

• Draft and negotiate legal documents for private equity investments.
• Assist in forming and managing private equity funds.
• Collaborate with external legal counsel on transactions.
• Monitor and manage existing investment portfolios.
• Review legal due diligence materials.
• Supervise the internal paralegal team for timely submissions.
• Work closely with various teams on fund formation and investment activities.

What You Need

• Must have a law degree (LLB or JD) and be a member in good standing with a law society.
• At least 6 years of experience in private markets transactions or fund formation.
• Strong communication skills to interact with staff and external stakeholders.
• Ability to manage time effectively and pay attention to detail.
