The Carlyle Group is looking for a 2-Year Associate to join their Special Credits Group in New York. This role involves supporting the evaluation and execution of restructuring activities across their credit platform. You’ll work on financial modeling, negotiations, and preparing materials for senior management, all while being part of a dynamic team focused on distressed investments.

What You’ll Do

  • Support restructuring transactions, both in court and out of court.
  • Participate in negotiations with creditors and companies.
  • Build and maintain detailed financial models.
  • Prepare materials for investment committees and senior management updates.
  • Re-underwrite distressed credits and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Support portfolio companies during reorganizations.
  • Create and monitor distressed credit watchlists.
  • Analyze data and trends in the restructuring market.

What You Need

  • 2-4 years of experience in restructuring investment banking or related fields.
  • Strong financial modeling skills, especially in complex capital structures.
  • Good understanding of credit documentation and legal options in distressed situations.
  • Familiarity with various restructuring transactions like bankruptcies and liability management.
  • Strong presentation skills for creating investment committee materials.
  • Self-motivated with a keen attention to detail.
  • Interest in distressed investing and restructuring.
  • Experience with AI tools for improving workflows is a plus.
