Associate, Venture Investing

Leonis Capital is looking for an Associate to join their investment team in San Francisco. This role involves working closely with partners to find and evaluate exceptional technical founders and companies. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and a passion for research. You’ll be involved in the entire investment process, from sourcing to decision-making, while also contributing to the firm’s research initiatives.

What You’ll Do

• Identify and connect with exceptional technical founders.
• Evaluate companies by analyzing their founders, markets, and products.
• Research emerging technologies and develop investment theses.
• Contribute to investment memos and Leonis research projects.
• Collaborate directly with partners on sourcing and investment decisions.

What You Need

• 2-4 years of experience in startup operations, product, VC, or technical roles.
• A technical background in fields like computer science, engineering, or mathematics.
• Curiosity about research and technology; you enjoy reading research papers and exploring new tools.
• Ability to take initiative and generate your own assignments.
• Strong judgment skills, able to make decisions with incomplete information.
• Clear writing skills and a first-principles thinking approach.
