Benson Capital Partners (“BCP”) is a New Orleans-based, for-profit entity founded in 2019 by Gayle M. Benson, Owner of the New Orleans Saints and Governor of the New Orleans Pelicans. In 2020, the firm launched its inaugural fund, Benson Capital Fund I, LP. The approximately $55 million fund makes venture capital investments in the Southeast. In 2023, BCP launched its second fund, Benson Capital Real Estate I, LP. That fund is approximately $65 million and executes real estate investments in the same Southeastern region.
BCP is seeking to hire an Investment Associate to join our existing 4-person team. This role is best suited for an action-oriented, self-starter eager to work on a variety of investments and projects. This role offers an opportunity to have significant exposure to the Investment Committee while working closely with our portfolio companies, startup founders in the region, and industry stakeholders contributing to the growth of our existing and future investment strategies.
The Associate’s primary responsibilities will include:
· Coordinate and conduct due diligence on prospective investments
· Write investment memos to present startup investment opportunities to the Investment Committee
· Cultivate and maintain relationships with founders, co-investors, and industry stakeholders in target markets
· Perform ongoing portfolio reviews of our existing investment portfolio
· Create financial models to evaluate potential new opportunities
· Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, assess competitive landscapes, and support investment theses
· Perform special projects and analyses to enhance investment strategies and best practices
· Assist in the preparation of presentations and reports for fund investors and serve as a liaison between BCP, portfolio companies, prospective investments, and industry stakeholders
· Develop into a deal origination professional capable of sourcing new investment opportunities
Desired Skills and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of experience in venture capital, investment banking, real estate, consulting, private equity, or other relevant industries
· Expert in using Excel to model and analyze investment opportunities
· Exceptional written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, critical thinking, and project management skills
· Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion
· Highly self-motivated and action-oriented
· Position will be based in New Orleans
