We are looking for an intern to work with our world-class team of Talent Investors. Your job will be to support them in identifying the founders of the next wave of world-changing companies before anyone else, and as they advise them in the earliest stages of their companies.
What You’ll Do
Your day-to-day will be varied, often in our Hoxton office but sometimes off-site – you may spend time researching the best aggregators of talent in the UK, followed by visits to those universities or institutions to meet exceptional people where they are. One week you might be helping deliver an intense Selection Summit where potential founders are put through their paces, the next you’re supporting Talent Investors as they help those founders navigate the earliest stages of finding their co-founder, exploring an idea and building their company.
You will also get to:
- Surround yourself with the world’s smartest and most ambitious individuals, helping to develop an institution that can transform the lives of the most impactful people
- Supercharge your learning – you will have a very steep learning curve and work alongside a talented, ambitious, and committed team
- Embed yourself within the EF network – we work with the best founders and investors globally
- Shadow the individual meetings with founders
Who you are
1. You are intellectually curious.
You have diverse interests; you may have a tendency to fall down rabbit holes, explore niche topics or become obsessive about ideas. You probably have nuanced opinions about what the future looks like, or how it should look, and you have an inkling of the kind of ideas, technologies or types of people who will make it happen.
2. You are a discerning judge of others.
You are able to identify the overlooked and look beyond the overrated. You do not unquestioningly follow consensus or defer to authority or common wisdom; you have your own opinions about what great looks like and are constantly updating, and upgrading, your beliefs.
3. You understand and appreciate technology’s potential for impact.
You don’t need to have technical skills (although they can be immensely helpful) but you do need to believe in technology’s capability to drive change and value creation. In addition, you are not afraid to ask questions and do deep research to build your understanding of the technologies that you believe are, and will be, important.
4. You are driven.
You have an innate desire to do great work, create value and seek out knowledge, and have ideas about how you will go about it. You are not seeking a framework for success.
5. You are a network builder.
You are drawn towards smart people who are doing interesting things and they are drawn to you. You back yourself to be able to meet and gain the trust of people with interesting intellectual outputs, those who have built niche, engaged communities around their passions and groups of people pushing the frontiers of what is possible.
6. You are a doer.
You get things done.
You get things done.
About Entrepreneur First
At Entrepreneur First, we believe that a small number of exceptional people will have an extraordinary impact by creating the technology companies which shape the future in ways we cannot yet imagine. We also believe that for many of these individuals, entrepreneurship is not an obvious or entirely legible career path.
We exist to identify, and amplify the impact of, these individuals. We do this via our unique approach to company creation, which sees us identify and work with outliers before they even know they’re outliers, right through to the day they prove it. We call this Talent Investing.
The startups cofounded on our programs are now worth over $10B, and include Tractable, Magic Pony Technology, Cleo, La Vie, Aztec, Sonantic, and many more.
EF is funded and backed by some of the world’s best founders and investors, including Patrick and John Collison (Stripe), Reid Hoffman (LinkedIn), Tom Blomfield (GoCardless and Monzo) and Demis Hassabis (Google Deepmind). Having raised our Series C round of investment at the end of 2021, we are well-capitalised out to 2026 and have ambitious plans to further scale our impact over the coming years.
