Are you an experienced Investor / Operator / Investment Banking professional / Management Consultant with a passion for biotech applied to planetary health? Do you have the expertise to identify and drive high-impact investment opportunities?   

Forbion, a leading venture capital firm focused on life sciences has recently launched it’s BioEconomy Strategy, which focusses on investing in innovative companies that leverage biotechnology to clean and feed the planet across four sectors; Food, Agriculture, Materials and Environmental Technologies.  

We are hiring across multiple positions within the newly formed BioEconomy Fund, ranging from Associate to Principal.

The Opportunity 

As a Principal in the Forbion Economy Fund, you will be at the forefront of identifying, sourcing, and driving investments in companies that have a demonstrated proof of concept, typically at Series A and B. We focus on scalable, cost-effective B2B solutions that replace incumbent products at price parity or better, where the solutions have a significant impact on planetary health. 

The Forbion BioEconomy Fund will actively support these companies to accelerate product development, scale-up and commercial launch, in turn supporting in delivering their impact potential. 

What You Will Do 

  • Due Diligence Management:?Independently conduct and lead due diligence analyses required to support an investment recommendation with support from junior team members. 
  • Financial Analysis and Modelling:?Construct and analyse financing and techno-economic models relevant for the technical and commercial aspects of investment opportunities. Lead due diligence with target companies to assess fit and attractiveness of a potential investment.  
  • Deal Flow:?Source deal flow and build a network with the ecosystem across our investment sectors and geographies. Support junior team members in the management of deal flow and cross-fund activities. 
  • Portfolio Management and Value Creation:?Beyond deal execution, the investment team actively supports portfolio company management teams in developing and executing growth strategies, navigating key challenges, and achieving strategic milestones. The Principal will take increasing accountability through Board seats 

What We’re Looking For 

  • 5+ years of work experience in fields relevant to the Fund’s investment mandate with a background in VC, and / or Investment banking. Prior experiences in management consulting and / or industry a plus 
  • Advanced degree in engineering or a scientific subject 
  • Demonstrated ability to independently conduct and manage technical due diligence processes, including technoeconomics, product and IP assessment 
  • Clear understanding and hands-on experience of complex technical and financial topics including assessment of industry dynamics and competitive positioning. 
  • Qualities of a strong leader, demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams and partner with senior professionals  
  • You will be an expert at independently conducting due diligence on potential investment opportunities and know how to manage junior team members to drive to a conclusion and investment recommendation
  • Conviction-driven presentation and communication skills including ability to synthesise and present complex topics internally and externally 
  • Independent, self-motivated, strong work ethic, enjoys fast paced environments  
  • Ambitious, proactive, show attention to detail, and with a structured approach to problem-solving and ability to work as a team player with a high sense of responsibility
