WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

Headline Asia is hiring a Fund Operation & IR Specialist to support our Asia team. As a member of a global venture capital firm based in Japan and the broader Asia region, you will support the investment team through investor relations and fund operations while taking a leading role in middle- and back-office operations. This position involves working closely with both domestic and international stakeholders to execute responsibilities effectively.

Position: Principal, Fund Operation & IR

Contract Type: Contract-based (Fully remote work is available, but occasional offline meetings in Asia, a few times per year, is required.)

Responsibilities & Role Expectations:

This position involves supporting the investment team through investor relations and fund operations for Headline Asia’s flagship Cayman and Japan-domiciled investment funds. The role also entails leadership in middle- and back-office operations.

Fund Operations (Japanese/English):

  • Act as the internal liaison with external experts (fund administrators, law firms, tax experts, auditing firms, banks, securities companies, etc.) to work together to facilitate efficient operations and resolve issues.
  • Collaborate with the investment team to execute investments and exits (e.g., internal approvals, remittance instructions).
  • Fund formation and management, drafting and revision of limited partnership agreements.
  • Support financial reporting and audits, and prepare business reports.
  • Collect, manage and monitor qualitative and quantitative updates from portfolio companies.
  • Handle filings with authorities in Japan, the Cayman Islands, and other relevant jurisdictions while ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Implementing improvements to related business flows and systems

Investor Relations (Japanese/English):

  • Arrange reports and notices for domestic and international investors.
  • Manage capital calls, distributions, and associated procedures.
  • Support general partner’s fundraising and handling investor due diligence and negotiations.
  • Coordinate procedures and documentation for new investors’ onboarding.

Other related tasks and responsibilities of the above

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proficiency in English and Japanese at a business level or higher.
  • Experience in the investment or management department and/or basic knowledge of accounting and finance.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to plan and implement efficiency improvements (from identifying issues to proposing and executing solutions).
  • Ability to carry out work quickly and reliably while maintaining a balance with accuracy.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Able to work in the East Asian time zone
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment
  • Experience working in/with startups or venture capital
  • Experience in investment management or middle/back office at a financial institution
