Principal, Commercial Finance

Ares Management is looking for a Principal or Managing Director to join their Commercial Finance team in the Northeast. This role involves leveraging your network to originate new business opportunities and working closely with clients to provide innovative financing solutions. You’ll be part of a collaborative team that values diverse perspectives and aims to support small and middle-market companies.

What You’ll Do

• Use your network to find new business opportunities
• Work with clients and legal teams to process agreements
• Analyze and structure new business opportunities for credit approval
• Negotiate terms with clients to move opportunities forward
• Collaborate with underwriters throughout the documentation process
• Travel to meet clients as needed
• Stay updated on industry trends

What You Need

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required
• 10+ years in business development or underwriting, ideally in asset-based lending
• Strong understanding of asset-based lending and commercial finance
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and colleagues
• Experience in cash flow lending and direct lending is a plus
• Strong structuring experience preferred
