Principal, Investment Associate Principal

Edge Growth is looking for an Investment Associate Principal to join their team in Johannesburg. In this role, you’ll lead the investment process for SMEs, focusing on debt funding for black-owned businesses. You’ll be responsible for deal origination, evaluation, and execution, while also mentoring junior team members. This is a great opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the SME sector.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and support the SME investment process from origination to execution.
• Build and maintain a network for sourcing high-quality investment opportunities.
• Manage due diligence and financial analysis for potential investments.
• Support post-investment management and credit control.
• Mentor and develop junior team members.

What You Need

• At least a graduate degree, preferably in finance, engineering, accounting, or law.
• An MBA, CA(SA), CAIA, or CFA would be a plus.
• 5+ years of experience in deal lifecycle, especially in debt investing or lending to SMEs.
• Experience in corporate finance or business consulting is beneficial.
• Familiarity with Enterprise & Supplier Development (ESD) or impact investing is a plus.
