Company & Position Summary
RMS is a long-standing and dynamic Family Office based in Shaker Heights, Ohio, seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Junior Investment Analyst to support the Company’s comprehensive Investment function. This position requires a high degree of professionalism, organization, financial acumen, accuracy, and accountability. As a value-added member of the RMS team, the Junior Investment Analyst will be involved in less complex investment-related research and analysis, various operational actions, various administration actions, and investment reporting. The Junior Investment Analyst will work directly for the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and support the Investment Department team. The position offers the potential for professional growth in a stable firm.
Essential Functions
- Supports Investment-Related Research & Analysis
- Performs Ad-hoc Investment/Industry/Asset Class Research
- Investment Tracking & Monitoring
- Data Entry for Investment Reporting Systems/Software (Addepar)
- Investment & Cash Flow Reporting
- Prepares and/or Supports Investment-Related Communications and Presentations
- Participates in Investment-Related Meetings and Drafts Meeting Minutes & Memos
- Leads Administrative Functions of the RMS Investment Department
- Supports Operational Actions of the RMS Investment Department
- Sources, Manages, Organizes Investment Statements, Reports, Letters/Communications, K-1 Tax Forms
- Maintains All Investment Files & Records
- Coordinates Investment Department & RMS Investment Committee Meetings & Calendars
- Maintains Investment-Related Contacts, Communications, and Investor Portals
- Processes Investment Documents & Signatures
- Completes Special Projects as Assigned by the Chief Investment Officer
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate would have some experience working in the general investment or financial services industry in either a junior investment role or operational back-office capacity and would be comfortable supporting a diverse team of investment professionals. An aptitude and passion for investing would be preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, primarily Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Teams is mandatory. Other requirements include i) Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ii) Demonstrative ability to solve problems independently; iii) High levels of motivation and initiative; and iv) Ability to work efficiently and multi-task in a dynamic team-oriented environment.
Specifically, the ideal candidate should have the following:
- 1-3 years direct experience working in the investment or financial services industry
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics with strong academic record
- Base understanding of investment portfolio theory and the capital markets
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
- Demonstrated knowledge of investment operations and administration
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills (i.e., verbal and written)
- A demonstrative ability to solve problems independently
- High levels of motivation and initiative
- The ability to work efficiently and multi-task in a dynamic team-oriented environment
- Desire to grow and expand personal knowledge and an ability to think objectively and critically
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, primarily Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Teams is mandatory
Education & Other Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics with strong academic record
- Knowledge of Traditional (Liquid) Asset Classes and Investments
- Knowledge of Alternative and Private Equity Asset Classes and Investments a plus
- 0% to 10% travel.
