Senior Legal Counsel, Real Assets

StepStone Group is looking for a Senior Legal Counsel or Associate General Counsel to join their Real Assets team in Toronto. This role involves supporting their global Infrastructure & Real Assets business by managing transactions and legal documentation. You’ll work closely with a diverse team and have the chance to engage in various investment activities, making a real impact in the private markets space.

What You’ll Do

• Review and negotiate documents for secondary transactions and fund investments.
• Assist in the formation and structuring of private equity funds.
• Manage outside counsel for investment activities.
• Supervise paralegals on various legal tasks.
• Work on special projects like legal technology implementation and regulatory filings.

What You Need

• Must have a law degree (LLB or JD) and be a member in good standing with a law society.
• 4-6 years of experience in private markets transactions, especially in co-investments and secondary fund investments.
• Strong communication skills to interact with various stakeholders.
• Excellent time management and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Self-starter with good organizational skills.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced work setting with changing priorities.
• Strong sense of integrity and accountability.
