Position Title: Managing Director, Business Development and Marketing

Position Summary

Serent Capital is seeking an overall leader of its Business Development and Marketing function. As an integral part of the firm’s growing sourcing and deal origination team, the Managing Director will expand and help manage the firm’s proprietary investment sourcing efforts, oversee the success of Serent’s Business Development team, oversee the success of their Marketing team, and will be responsible for establishing and scaling Serent’s pipeline of talent, including new programs that may be developed. Specifically, the Managing Director will lead recruitment, onboarding, training, and management of Business Development team members. This is an exciting entrepreneurial opportunity to build and shape a significant team expansion with an established, highly successful business development organization. Ultimately, the Managing Director will be responsible for ensuring the Sourcing Team is reliably meeting and exceeding the firm’s capital deployment goals with a focus on both platform investments and add-on acquisitions and cultivating junior investment sourcing talent for long-term success as business development professionals at Serent.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage and coach the firm’s marketing and business development teams to hit Serent’s annual deployment targets and establish a multi-year strategy for proprietary sourcing at Serent

• Develop and execute against a plan for the successful recruitment, onboarding, training, and management of a 15-20+ person Business Development team (once fully ramped)

• Develop and manage strong relationships with local colleges, universities, recruitment networks and recruiters in order to source highly qualified early-career candidates & experienced candidates

• Manage a robust candidate pipeline and successful full-cycle cohort recruitment process through candidate sourcing, phone screening, interviewing, assessment and ultimately hiring of multiple qualified sourcing candidates at once

• Design and implement an onboarding and training program, successfully ramping new hires to sourcing productivity in their first 6 months

• Establish and track OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) and other employee performance monitoring, training, and support programs to ensure success of the Analyst program

• Lead formal review cycles, certifications, interim assessments, and overall performance management

• Co-lead design of systems and process necessary to drive efficiencies and scalability in the business development organization

Accountability and Performance Measures

• Ability to successfully recruit, retain and develop business development talent to full sourcing productivity within 6 months of hire

• Achievement of the sourcing organization’s annual capital deployment and closed transaction objectives on an annual basis

• Achievement of the marketing departments annual and multi-year KPIs and targets

Qualifications

• 7 to 10 years of sales/marketing recruiting and managerial experience with 10+ direct reports (BDR/SDR management a plus)

• Experience with enterprise-level account-based selling and account-based marketing

• Demonstrated experience onboarding, training & developing talent in a fast-paced organization

• Ability to collaborate across various stakeholder groups & effectively manage multiple priorities at once

• Strong analytical, data management and problem-solving skillset

• Strong writing, communications, & project management skills

• Able to operate effectively with high degree of autonomy

• Familiarity with financial services, Private Equity and/or Venture Capital markets a plus

• Willingness to be based in Austin, TX (or possibly San Francisco, CA)

Four-year college degree from an accredited institution, MBA preferable
