Role and Responsibilities

Sorenson Capital is hiring for an Associate to join the firm’s Growth practice in either Palo Alto, CA or Lehi, UT starting in the Summer of 2024, and this role requires a two-year commitment.

Associates at Sorenson have a broad range of responsibilities across the full life-cycle of an investment, from sourcing deal prospects and analyzing new deals to working with existing portfolio companies. Associates are expected to evaluate and screen new opportunities, perform complex financial and data analysis, and assist in industry and competitive due diligence. Associates work closely on a team with experienced investment professionals and partners.

Sorenson has a long history of placing associates into top-tier MBA programs – 80% of all associates that applied were accepted into a top 3 MBA program and 93% were accepted into a top 10 MBA program. The firm regularly rehires associates after an MBA program or directly promotes them – 25% of all associates were rehired or promoted to a career track role.

Associates may also have the opportunity to co-invest alongside firm investments on a fee-free, carry-free basis.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of experience working in one of the following:

  • a venture capital firm
  • a software-focused private equity role
  • a software-focused corporate M&A role
  • a technology-focused investment banking role
  • a software development role
  • a product management role

The position requires strong quantitative and analytical abilities and established written and interpersonal skills. Additionally, candidates should be strategically minded with solid business judgment and be familiar with financial statements and financial modeling. A successful candidate will also possess a superior academic track record with demonstrated quantitative and mathematical skills.

Location

Candidates must be based in the San Francisco Bay Area or the Salt Lake City area and have the ability to be in-person at one of our respective offices regularly.
