BC Partners Interview Process & Questions

Interview process can change with each candidate as per the decision of the firm. However, investment firms like BC Partners retain the general nature of the process which are as follows:

    • Interviews consist of 4 to 6 rounds
    • The first rounds get supervised by junior investment professionals, while the late rounds are taken care of by more senior staff
    • Unless it’s on-cycle or on-campus recruiting, the entire process typically concludes after multiple weeks

Interviewers prepare a mixture of behavioral questions, technical/investing questions, and fit questions so be ready for those types of questions.

To prepare for these questions, I would suggest checking out my Growth Equity Interview Guide.

    Why BC Partners

The most asked question during interviews is “Why this firm”, so anticipate this in your future interviews.

If you’ve networked with the employees at the firm prior to your interview, make sure to mention whoever they are and how they’ve positively influenced your decision to apply at their firm.

Another thing I’d suggest is to listen to interviews with the firm’s founders, investors, and management team so you can learn more about the firm and come up with a relevant answer.

For example, here’s a great interview with BC Partners Europe Chairman Nikos Stathopoulos:

    BC Partners Case Study

Firms always want to know the level of communication skills and technical knowledge of their candidates. One of the tools they use to assess these traits is case studies.

Most case studies at firms like BC Partners tend to revolve around asking for investment recommendations and performing financial modeling. However, cold calling case study may also be required for those applying for junior roles.
