OVERVIEW

Alpine Investors is seeking a DEI Lead to, in partnership with the Head of PeopleFirst and Chief Talent Officer, ensure Alpine is a Best Place to Work, a Force for Social Good, and can Deliver 3x Net through fostering diverse, equitable, and inclusive high-performing teams and cultures across Alpine’s portfolio and at Alpine HQ. This leader’s efforts will extend far beyond Alpine employees, integrating across our entire portfolio, driving systemic change, and setting new standards for excellence in DEI practices within the private equity landscape. Through strategic vision, collaborative leadership, and unwavering commitment, this leader will ensure that Alpine embodies its values and thrives as a catalyst for positive societal impact. This role reports to the Head of PeopleFirst, Kiki Couchman, and Chief Talent Officer, Tal Lee Anderman, who will provide mentorship and exposure to enable the DEI program to integrate into Alpine’s broader PeopleFirst strategy. Key outcomes include:

DEI Program Design + Data-Driven Progress: Partner with the Head of PeopleFirst and Chief Talent Officer to design and effectively deliver an impactful, repeatable, scalable DEI vision and strategy as part of our broader PeopleFirst program

  • Partner with PeopleFirst coaches and consultants to serve as a strategic, engaging thought partner to CEOs and business leaders—including at Alpine HQ—to craft a clear, compelling DEI vision and strategy for every Alpine company, including both a consistent Alpine standard of excellence and highly personalized supplements; then, integrate DEI strategies into the company’s overall strategic plan
  • Train and develop Alpine leaders (including PeopleFirst consultants) to be Best in the World at being and building diverse, equitable, and inclusive teams and cultures; lead from the front, delivering high impact facilitated experiences and trainings at Alpine HQ and, where possible, across the portfolio, unleashing leaders’ highest potential
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to assess the “DEI health” of Alpine company teams and cultures, and to track the effectiveness of DEI initiatives to drive continuous improvement; conduct regular assessments and audits to monitor progress, identify gaps, and recommend adjustments as needed; prepare and present regular reports to senior leadership on DEI outcomes and impact

Expert Consultation: Serve as the go-to expert to address DEI-related needs across the Alpine ecosystem by delivering high-impact, business-oriented, scalable consulting on bespoke company needs, ranging from strategy to execution

  • Utilize DEI expertise to provide scalable counsel as a go-to resource for DEI-related company needs (i.e., hiring, talent management, employee experience) across Alpine’s portfolio of companies, aligning solutions with strategic goals
  • Represent Alpine in external forums, conferences, and industry groups to share best practices and contribute to the advancement of DEI in the private equity sector

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategic Partnership: Collaborate with portfolio CEOs, board leadership, and Alpine partnership to co-create and execute DEI strategies aligned with business objectives
  • Data Analysis: Utilize data analytics to assess DEI progress, identify opportunities, and guide strategic planning for continuous improvement
  • Consultative Expertise: Provide guidance and support to resolve DEI-related challenges, ensuring alignment with Alpine’s overarching goals
  • Facilitation and Training: Lead DEI training sessions and facilitated experiences to enhance awareness, understanding, and skills among Alpine leaders
  • Content Development: Create relevant, scalable, and adaptable DEI-related content, materials, and programs, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and best practices
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including CEOs, executives, and external partners, to drive DEI initiatives forward

YOU SHOULD 

  • Have proven experience in designing and implementing DEI strategies, ideally within relevant sectors or domains, yielding deep understanding of DEI best practices and industry trends; track record of success setting, communicating, and galvanizing DEI strategies across a variety of professional settings is ideal
  • Understand the key value creation levers for Alpine businesses and the broader private equity model, such that you design and communicate DEI solutions in alignment with the broader priorities of Alpine
  • Have strong analytical skills with the ability to take concepts from idea through execution within a company, including building sustainable systems for the design, collection, and analysis of data over time
  • Be effective at building trust in high-stakes, high-stress, and emotional situations, while remaining grounded, holistically assessing options, confidently choosing path forward, and moving everyone involved towards that solution
  • Be able to connect deeply and authentically with individuals and teams, including creating psychologically safe environments, holding space to process and moving towards clarity and action
  • Demonstrate an ability to build effective relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of an organization
  • Display excellent communication and facilitation skills, with experience presenting to diverse audiences
  • Be able to garner trust in your leadership and ideas, which inspires and engages amplified passion for DEI
  • Demonstrate alignment with Alpine’s core values

REQUIREMENTS

  • 10+ years of progressive experience delivering PeopleFirst leadership (with 3+ years running DEI strategy at scale)
  • Experience coaching and motivating high-performing people across multiple disciplines of DEI
  • Expert communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage and mobilize stakeholders at all levels
  • Commitment to continuous learning and personal development in the field of DEI
  • Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree preferred

COMPENSATION

The annualized base pay range for this role is expected to be between $200,000-225,000. Actual base pay could vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, subject matter expertise, and the applicant’s skill set. The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
