The Role

The Analyst / Associate in the commercial Real Estate Credit group will work on all aspects of the team’s investment activities, including deal sourcing, evaluation, diligence, execution and asset management. The Real Estate Credit group provides fixed and floating rate first mortgage and subordinate financing including mezzanine and preferred equity investments on behalf of multiple investment vehicles including a public mortgage REIT, insurance companies and managed funds. The group finances a broad spectrum of property types throughout the United States and Europe, including pre-construction, construction, bridge, and stabilized loans for single assets and portfolios and has deployed over $78 billion of capital since 2009. Apollo’s broader real estate investment group includes an equity investment effort based in New York which is separately staffed, but fully integrated with, the debt investment effort to ensure that Apollo maintains superior market intelligence in the real estate market. The Analyst / Associate will benefit from the resources of the integrated Apollo platform and will have significant opportunities for personal growth and to be impactful to a small, highly entrepreneurial team that manages a large and growing commercial real estate portfolio.  Please note this role can sit in NYC, LA, or San Francisco.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Drive analytical and project support for all investment activities; construct financial models, sensitivity analyses, comparable analyses and other discrete financial analyses as well as financial and asset due diligence and industry research
  • Conduct property and market due diligence with travel as required
  • Participate in deal closings, including the review and negotiation of legal documentation
  • Communicate with external partners and due diligence advisors such as sponsors, brokers, attorneys, investors, and third-party consultants during deal transaction
  • Work with asset management team to monitor existing investments on an on-going basis
  • Develop investment committee memoranda
  • Assist in the day-to-day tasks of the group including the creation of presentations, excel spreadsheets, databases, etc. on an ad hoc basis

Qualifications & Experience

  • This role can sit in NYC, LA, or San Francisco
  • Bachelor’s degree from an undergraduate institution, preferably in Finance, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 2-3 years of experience in real estate investment banking, commercial real estate lending/CMBS, principal investing, and/or brokering
  • Ability to meaningfully contribute to strategic dialogue and collaborate effectively with investment teams, brokers and borrowers
  • Demonstrates strong investment judgment by ability to identify potential risks and find solutions to roadblocks throughout all stages of a deal
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills to support communication with external counterparties
  • Excels in a rigorous and fast-paced team-oriented work environment

Pay Range

$110,000-200,000

The base salary range for this position is listed above. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on personal, team, and Firm performance. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, level, and geographic location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed here.
