The Role

Apollo Global Management is seeking a Corporate Credit Trader to be responsible for trade execution and alpha generation for Apollo’s Corporate Fixed Income Team. The Associate or Principal (depending on experience) will join a highly collegial trading platform, deeply integrated into the firm’s investment process, which has a top tier presence in every asset class across Global Credit.

Based in NYC, the incumbent will partner with the broader investment team to both execute risk decisions and identify opportunities to maximize returns.  From a product perspective, the candidate will trade various fixed income instruments that support the global investment grade effort: US corporate bonds, ETFs, Munis and Preferreds. In addition to trading and identifying opportunities to generate incremental alpha, the candidate will prepare and present ad hoc market recaps, risk reports, and presentations to senior members of the investment team.

Primary Responsibilities

• Responsible for trade execution and alpha generation for Apollo’s global investment grade effort
• Develop and maintain strong sell-side relationships to access liquidity and drive best execution
• Participate in portfolio construction alongside senior traders, portfolio managers and research analysts; review securities to firm up views on liquidity and relative value
• Tactically identify and execute trades within stated risk frameworks and fund strategies
• Contribute to execution and design of trading strategies for the benefit of Apollo’s clients and funds.
• Effectively communicate market color and technicals to research analysts, portfolio managers, and credit committees to identify and drive actionable trade ideas
• Work with trading assistants and operations teams to ensure timely and accurate trade settlements and order workflow
• Support development and enhancement of technology to improve trading and portfolio construction process
• Effectively communicate performance, market commentary, trade activity, positions and targets to senior management and portfolio management constituents

Qualifications & Experience

• 2-7 years of sell-side or buy-side trading experience, with a strong background in Investment Grade Credit including intimate understanding of the correlation with credit ETFs
• Experience constructing and/or executing Portfolio Trades
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to balance multiple tasks simultaneously
• Must be able to manage multiple accounts and objectives efficiently
• Must be personable and be able to liaise effectively with investment partners, senior colleagues, and sell-side counterparties
• High performer who multi-tasks well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Comfortable working within undefined processes, and developing sustainable framework in a collaborative fashion
• Previous experience with investor reporting or data management is a plus

Special Skills Required

• Strong analytical skills: Advanced in Excel and familiarity with coding (Python or other languages) and large datasets a plus
• Strong knowledge and experience using Electronic Trading platforms (MarketAxess, TradeWeb, etc)
• CFA Charterholder, MBA and relevant FINRA Series licensees a plus

Pay Range

The base salary range for this position is listed above. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on personal, team, and Firm performance. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, level, and geographic location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed here.
