The Role

Apollo is seeking a Principal, COO for Apollo’s Opportunistic Credit business to play a pivotal role in driving the ongoing success of its $25bn+ platform. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical understanding of the credit markets and strategies Apollo offers, as well as exhibit excellent communication skills and a hands-on approach to ensure the successful execution of projects. The COO will work closely with Apollo’s opportunistic credit investment team, working to scale the platform, streamline process and ensure best-in-class processes, technology and operations are being executed upon.

Primary Responsibilities

Credit Market Expertise:

  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of credit markets, strategies and asset classes.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and market developments related to strategies under purview to ensure continued adaptation and awareness for the opportunistic credit business.
  • Provide insights on diverse areas for revenue generation and risk management.

Operational Leadership:

  • Provide hands-on leadership to ensure efficient day-to-day operations in partnership with the investment professionals.
  • Oversee and optimize operational processes to enhance overall efficiency including but not limited to trading, investment, risk, technology, finance and operations-related requirements to help the opportunistic credit platform scale.
  • Work with deal professionals on a daily basis to help enhance processes and increase our commercial approach to information sharing both internally and externally.
  • Work with various stakeholders in the firm to ensure our investment-level data and information allows us to scale from a capital formation perspective.

Market Insight:

  • Monitor market conditions and identify opportunities for growth and diversification.
  • Work across CPS teams to think through product development and new initiatives.
  • Analyze industry trends to inform strategic decision-making.

Communication:

  • Act as a strong communicator, bridging the technical and non-technical aspects of the business.
  • Foster effective communication across departments and teams.
  • Take a proactive and hands-on role in addressing operational challenges and opportunities.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 9-12 years of experience in the finance industry, preferably asset management.
  • Extensive experience in a similar function within a credit business.
  • Demonstrated credit markets and asset class expertise.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success in project management and delivering timely results.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to contribute to the long-term growth and success of the company.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Hands-on approach to leadership and problem-solving.

Pay Range

200,000-300,000

The base salary range for this position is listed above. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on personal, team, and Firm performance. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, level, and geographic location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed here.
