Position Summary

General Atlantic is seeking an Associate in our New York office to join the Capital Markets team. In this role they will assist with debt and equity capital markets activities across current portfolio companies and new investments as well as help manage overall banking and lending relationships. This role is a two-year program (with ability to extend to a third year, depending on performance and business need) and starts in August/September 2024.

Responsibilities 

  • Analyzing existing and prospective portfolio companies to develop capital structure recommendations
  • Evaluating banks and financing sources for transactions, assisting with outreach and negotiating debt commitment papers and credit agreements
  • Managing the financing diligence process alongside investment teams
  • Assisting with portfolio company public market readiness and IPO execution
  • Monitoring public portfolio companies and evaluating various liquidity strategies
  • Preparing market analysis and updates for portfolio companies and internal committees
  • Tracking banking and lender relationships
  • Assisting with portfolio company hedging and FX requirements

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in capital markets, with a strong preference for a leveraged finance background
  • Interest in global capital markets and a diverse capital markets experience a must – equity, debt, FX, multiple geographies
  • A self-starter with a record of academic success
  • A high level of professional maturity and a solid work ethic
  • An ability to contribute to a small team and highly demanding work environment
  • Organized; strong attention to detail
