Position Summary

General Atlantic is seeking to hire a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Associate to join the Credit Fund Accounting team in the New York City office. This position will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting for our private equity credit funds. Working closely with the Fund Controller and other key stakeholders, you will be responsible for various aspects of fund accounting, including financial statement preparation, valuation analysis, and compliance reporting. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of our fund while gaining exposure to complex financial instruments and investment strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and review quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements
  • Valuation Analysis: Assist in the valuation of portfolio investments, including analyzing market trends, evaluating valuation methodologies, and assessing fair value adjustments
  • NAV Calculation: Calculate and reconcile Net Asset Value (NAV) for the fund, ensuring accuracy and completeness of underlying data and supporting documentation
  • Investor Reporting: Prepare investor capital call and distribution notices, respond to investor inquiries, and maintain investor records in compliance with fund agreements
  • Compliance Oversight: Monitor regulatory compliance for the fund, including tracking regulatory changes, ensuring adherence to investment guidelines, and assisting with regulatory filings
  • Audit Support: Coordinate with external auditors during year-end audits and quarterly reviews, providing support and documentation as required
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, enhance controls, and optimize efficiency within the accounting function
  • Ad Hoc Projects: Support special projects and initiatives as assigned by senior management, providing analytical support and insights to drive informed decision-making

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in fund accounting, private equity, or financial services industry preferred
  • Solid understanding of GAAP accounting principles, with experience in preparing financial statements and performing complex reconciliations
  • Public and private accounting experience is a plus
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Advent Geneva, Investran) and Microsoft Excel; experience with Bloomberg or other financial databases is a plus
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and interact with external stakeholders
  • Proactive mindset with a willingness to take initiative and drive process improvements in a dynamic environment
