This role will be a critical member of the investment team at General Catalyst and work in tandem with Partners and the emerging investor team through sourcing and executing new investments. A successful candidate will bring actionable ideas, drive effective processes, understand business models and how to conduct diligence for growth-stage companies, and exhibit excellent investment judgement.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Identify and diligence novel scientific breakthroughs, innovative technologies, and recommend high-potential investments
- Independently evaluate opportunities across therapeutics, diagnostics, research tools & health tech from seed to growth stage
- Conduct diligence, communicate insights and investment recommendations to senior stakeholders
- Perform analysis including financial projections, valuations and returns analysis
- Lead end-to-end analytical sector thesis work by quickly understanding the landscape and developing structured analysis
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- PhD or significant research experience
- Work experience in consulting, banking, public markets, private equity or venture capital following PhD or MD
- Demonstrated interest in life sciences and passion for innovation across healthcare technology
- Exceptional strategic, analytical, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Driven, self-starter with a passion for excellence and tolerance for ambiguity and change
- Deep analytical, research and technical skills
- Prior investing experience strongly preferred
