Credit Platform:

H.I.G. Capital’s credit platform is currently $22 billion in AUM with the expectation of this continuing to grow rapidly with multiple new fund structures in the pipeline. The Credit Platform has been actively investing in CLOs/structured products, direct loan originations, distressed/stressed debt and distressed-for-control investments with both private equity firms and non-sponsor companies. A differentiated, value-added strategy and leading position in the lower to middle market has resulted in strong, consistent returns and has established H.I.G. as a market leader in the credit markets.

The growing credit platform includes interesting and complex fund structures including a publicly traded business development company (BDC), traditional closed-ended private credit funds, hybrid funds, evergreen funds as well as custom-tailored separately managed accounts. We also expect to expand into more liquid and open-ended structures. Our fund structures are sophisticated and employ many intricate features and characteristics including leverage through a multitude of structures (subscription lines, ABLs, TRS), multi-jurisdiction and multi-currency vehicles, and tax structuring vehicles including blockers, season-and-sell entities and tax-treaty vehicles. Role Overview:

We are currently seeking a Valuations Senior Associate to be based in our Coral Gables, Florida location. This position reports to the Head of Credit Valuations. As a critical member of the Finance Team, you will be responsible for oversight, technical review, and delivery of valuations for the business.

The selected candidate will work with teams across the organization, including the Investment, Finance, Accounting, Investor Services, Performance Reporting and Capital Formation Teams, in carrying out their role accounting for Credit and Real Estate Funds. This will provide the candidate with a broad range of exposure to different aspects of the business.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day management of the valuation process, deliverable tracking, presentation reviews, valuation model reviews, and completion of ad-hoc deliverables.
  • Assist with drafting and review of valuation models in line with H.I.G.’s valuation policy as well as requisite external guidance.
  • Drive the onboarding process for new investments, including liaising with internal and external counterparties and ensuring proper data collection procedures are in place.
  • Compiling documentation to support actual and comparable company financial information, valuation assumptions and other market observable data to be used in the valuation models.
  • Assessing underlying assumptions used to develop fair value estimates, performance multiples, and other valuation metrics.
  • Manage the annual audit as well as interim reviews with auditors, 3rd party valuation specialists and internal counterparties.
  • Drive enhancements and technology improvements to the function and reporting processes, procedures.
  • Assist with the creation and development of presentation materials to effectively communicate results to the Credit unit, Firm Leadership, and to our Investors.
  • Lead discussions and maintain relationships with and provide deliverables to various internal and external constituents.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or similar discipline (completion or progress toward CFA or MBA preferred).
  • 4 – 6 years in valuation services focusing on corporate or real estate loans.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and challenging environment that requires execution of recurring deliverables as well as projects and initiatives in support of a rapidly growing business.
  • Thorough understanding of ASC 820 and corresponding valuation guidance. Familiarity with a wide range of valuation approaches (e.g. income and market approaches, OPM, contingent claims, PWERM, etc.)
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to confidently handle a wide range of daily interactions with sophisticated investors and professionals at all levels.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Confidence presenting to large groups of senior individuals.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, is required.
  • Ability to construct complex equity and credit financial models is preferred.
  • Perform company, industry and economic research.
  • Analyze financial statements.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and exhibit strong analytical skills while adhering to strict deadlines.
  • Ability to maintaining attention to detail under pressure.
