Investment Analyst (Venture Capital)

About You:

We are looking for someone to excel in collaborating to drive tangible outcomes. Your focus spans residents, workers, students, entrepreneurs, and visitors, with a proven track record of advancing programs in key sectors such as technology & innovation and retail & dining.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build a robust pipeline of startups and retail businesses through research, outreach, and event participation.
• Review incoming requests and conduct initial vetting of potential investments.
• Conduct detailed business and financial due diligence for startups and retail businesses, seeking investment committee approval.
• Facilitate introductions and tours for interested businesses in the neighborhood.
• Contribute to marketing strategy for the Business Attraction program.
• Collaborate with internal teams to plan events supporting Business Attraction efforts.
• Partner with the Neighborhood Program Coordinator to provide robust support to program participants, fostering growth and economic impact.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the Sr Director, Economic Impact.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in supporting venture capital or startups, with a focus on building deal flow and preparing investment memos.
• MBA or similar degree with concentrations in business, investing, finance, or economics.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills.
• Proficient in insights and data-driven decision-making.
• Comfortable with both strategic and tactical tasks, thriving in ambiguity.
• Outstanding work ethic, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
• Demonstrated initiative and creativity.
• Strong proficiency in Excel.
