The Carlyle Group seeks to hire an Analyst within the AlpInvest Primary Fund Investments team in Amsterdam.

Analysts are key members of the investment team, typically working directly with senior investment professionals in a flat team structure. From day one, this individual will be exposed to the wide network of the Primary Fund team and contribute to a wide range of activities. Analysts are responsible for market screening, due diligence, deal analysis & execution and portfolio monitoring.

The successful candidate will be a team player with the confidence to interact with all levels of an organization and ability to develop professional relationships externally. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn, conscientious and with a proven interest in developing a career as an investor.

Responsibilities

The Analyst’s role spans the entire investment and portfolio monitoring process, including:

  • Market screening: tracking deal flow and universe across Europe, developing relationships with (junior) professionals from the GP, LP and investment advisor communities. Summarizing meeting Key Takeaways and developing an initial and independent view of opportunities
  • Due diligence: preparation of due diligence requests and leadership role in due diligence meetings
    Investment Selection & deal execution: involved in full fund assessment and comparison to peers, responsible for financial analyses and preparing and writing (parts of) investment memos.
  • Portfolio monitoring: Monitor performance of investments including attending advisory board and GP meetings.

Qualifications

Education, Certificates & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Strong preference for Master’s degree in relevant subject (for example: Econometrics, Finance, Business Economics, Business Administration) with above average results.
  • Relevant internships in Investment Banking, Private Equity, Consultancy, or similar setting.

  • Strong analytical skills with an eye for detail.
  • Inquisitive mind, a keen interest in understanding the fundamentals of different funds, companies, and industries.
  • Independent thinker: ability to withstand pressure from your counterpart as well as ability to develop judgment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: ability to adjust to and work in various cultural settings. Successful candidates enjoy building relationships within the relevant targeted universe.
  • Advanced Excel / financial modeling capability.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interest in working in international context and willingness to travel.
